Vincent Cross
@vincentcross
We connected with video producer - and consummate Brooklyn boy - Vincent Cross, and asked him to show us around his home neighborhood of Crown Heights. He said yes, grabbed a Wythe, and took to the streets to document his favorite spots in the area. Take a peek below to read about his trip.:
Golda
Have you ever loved the food at a place so much, only for it to suddenly close down? That’s what happened to me with Tilda All Day, the former home of my Favorite Egg Sandwich. That was until Danny Nusbaum (formerly one half of TAD) went off on his own to open Golda - a quaint neighborhood joint serving up middle eastern inspired food. My Favorite Egg Sandwich included.
Nagle's Bagels
If you’re looking for something a little more well, New York, then another one of my go-to is the Classic Nagle from Nagle's Bagel. Think sliced smoked salmon, house-made cream cheese, tomatoes, onions, and capers. Ask for it on a toasted everything and you’ve got it made. Pro Tip? Head next door to Little Zelda for a coffee while you wait for your order.
Brooklyn Pizza Crew
Speaking of New York classics, every good New York neighborhood need it’s very only pizza slice spot. In Crown Heights, I would say it would have to be Brooklyn Pizza Crew over on Nostrand.
Gueros
In the mood for some Tex-Mex? How about Gueros on Prospect Heights. Home of the best nachos in the neighborhood. On a hot summer day, make sure to get the margarita - ask for half frozen, half shaken.
The Food Sermon
If you find yourself dreaming about the islands, I suggest heading over to The Food Sermon where you’ll meet one of the friendliest faces in the neighborhood. Rawlston Williams’ build-your-own jerk chicken bowls always hits the spot. Take a swig of some of his bottled sorrel and you might just find yourself on The Grenadines.
Named one of Bon Appetit’s Best Ten New Restaurants in 2017, Hart’s is a solid addition to the neighborhood. No matter what the occasion, do yourself a favor and and have whatever chef Nick Perkins recommends. Make sure to pair it with whatever cocktail Nialls Fallon recommends and you’ll be good to go.
Doris
Close out your evening with a nightcap at Doris. If you’re still hungry, grab a grilled cheese from their nightly pop up and head to the backyard for a table tennis match. If you can’t find me there, check Do or Dive for some late-night Brooklyn fun.
